Regional Panel Meetings - 12 Suggestions

  1. Consider limiting evening panel meetings to 2 hours.  Have more than one meeting if necessary or plan a ½ day workshop.
  2. Make sure to invite the Area 29 Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs who are assigned to your panel’s specific agenda topic (eg. Corrections, Grapevine, etc.)
  3. Have copies of Kits & Workbooks, pamphlets, books, etc., available if they are part of your Agenda Topic discussion.  You may need to order these from the MGS Literature Chair in advance of your panel meeting, or ask the committee chair assigned to your topic if they have literature you can borrow.
  4. Create a flyer to attract attendees to your Regional Panel meeting.
  5. When sending a flyer with more than one meeting date; indicate which item will be covered on each date.
  6. Have District and Area webmasters post meetings on the websites.
  7. Make copies on 3 hole punched paper when possible.
  8. Take time to read and highlight background material in advance.
  9. Consider using presenters at the panel meetings who may, or may not, present at the Mini Conference.
  10. Save any extra copies of background material from your meeting(s) to take to the Mini Conference as hand-outs.
  11. Your Regional Panel recording secretary is vital to your meetings. He/she will provide minutes to your attendees which will help your presenters prepare for the Area 29 Mini Conference.
  12. Remember that the Area will reimburse the Regional Panel for the cost of rent and copies.  Any other expenses must be paid by the Regional Panel. These expenses can be offset by passing the basket.
